"To be able to design a putter that has had such a positive impact on so many players has been very special. From Tour Players to your average golfer, The Townsend Putter will improve your confidence on the green ... and improved confidence leads to lower scores. I hope you get a chance to use a Townsend and understand what makes it special and different from the rest."
Steve Lewis, Designer | WHY THE TOWNSEND PUTTER WILL WORK
FOR YOU!
The Townsend Putter was designed for golfers who typically play on medium fast to fast greens. These players usually desire putters with heavier heads for a smooth stroke with a lot of “feel”. This is why it is rising in popularity among competitive golfers at all levels. The clean style and white alignment aid does not distract the player from concentrating on the putt.
EVERY putting stroke incorporates some form of pendulum motion. It only makes sense to use a putter that allows you to come as close to a pendulum putting stroke as the rules allow. The standard Townsend putters incorporate an upright position (77 degrees lie for the standard and belly putters and 79.5 degrees for the long putter) and slightly shorter length (standard putter – 34”) that naturally promotes a truer pendulum putting stroke that allows the putter head to stay on line longer resulting in more accurate putts. The Townsend putter can be customized to fit a wide range of players. Lie angles are available from 69 to 80 degrees and lengths from 29 to 52 inches. The Townsend balances beautifully at the even the shortest lengths and flattest lie positions.
The Townsend heads are a soft stainless steel with 3 degrees of loft (The preferred loft for medium fast to fast greens) and the finest milled faces you will find on any putter anywhere. The Standard head is 390 grams and is used for the standard putter and belly putter. The Heavy head is 450 grams and is used for the long putter and can also be used for a belly putter. Heavier heads for superb feel especially on medium fast to fast greens. There is a white alignment feature that is the exact diameter of a golf ball.
It only makes sense if you are using a pendulum putting stroke that you make it work as simply and as efficiently as possible. The Townsend putter offers the opportunity to get that efficiency.
